Welcome...

The Foht August trip took us to The Hyatt Regency Center in downtown Kansas City Missouri. While attending I decided to join and rehearse in the High Winds Flute Orchestra. I played Alto FLute on a Pearl Alto which I had only recently purchased from The FLute Works out of New York. The Orchestra had approximately 120 players from all around the country. The performers ranged from accomplished High School, to full professional College instructors and Flute Studio teachers. I was thrilled to be a pert of this. The music was challenging and yet we sounded wonderful with only two days of about 6 hours of rehearsal time.

Itinerary

The trip to Kansas City energized my flute playing and interest in FLute Choirs. I saw "The U-Tube" beat bop flute guy Gary just doing a pick-up gig in the Hotel lobby.

I sat at the table of the founding father of The National Flute Association, Mark Thomas during the Gala Fundraising dinner honoring Bickford Brannen, Jim Walker and Gerald Carey.  Also seated at the table were Penelope Fischer, principal FLutist of The Ann Arbor Symphony, and John Bailey who conducted The High Winds Flute Orchestra.

What a fabulous dinner we had listening to the stories of The early days of the Flute Convention's beginnings. Speeches were given by Alexa Still, Gerald Cary and Leonard Garrison as well as one from The NFA lifetime achievement award winner Jim Walker.

The dinner was followed by a Gala Concert of "out of the ballpark" flute music.
